A Night Out With Travel Massive

A friend of mine introduced me to Travel Massive before I arrived in Australia.  She lives in New York, is a travel blogger (@TheGlobeGetter), and is part of Travel Massive’s New York City chapter.  Knowing that I too have a travel blog, she suggested I join the Sydney chapter to meet up and network with travel industry people in my new city.  Travel Massive’s mission is “to unearth and connect travel insiders in every city in the world in order to empower change in travel”.  Thus far, I’ve participated in two of Travel Massive’s events in Sydney, one of which I was privileged enough to have my friend, The Globe Getter herself, join me!

In the typical end-of-the-year fashion, a Christmas Party was planned with a catamaran sunset cruise along Sydney’s iconic harbor.  Could there be anything better?!  The Globe Getter and I joined 30 other travel industry insiders for this magical evening on the water.  We started the night off with a happy hour in Darling Harbor before boarding our catamaran, courtesy of Oz Cat Catamaran.  Our party included travel bloggers, tour guides, Australian Tourism and Sky Scanner employees, and even the creator of Travel Massive itself.

After boarding the boat, we began cracking open several bottles of wine, unveiling our finger foods and snacks, turning up the music, and snapping pictures of our perfect views of the Sydney Bridge and Opera House.  We cruised over to a secluded beach along to harbor to anchor.  A few people decided to swim in the chilly water but most of us were happy to relax on the boat with the sun setting directly in front of us.

Floating on the water in a beautiful boat surrounded by fellow travel-lovers and a glorious sunset is easily one of my favorite moments in Sydney as well as one of my top 10 travel moments of 2015.  The Globe Getter and I not only got to network with travel industry insiders, we were also lucky enough to enjoy a perfect evening out in Sydney.

Travel Massive is all about connecting people in the travel industry around the globe and is expanding at an incredible rate.  I would say that I barely qualify as an industry insider with my little blog over here but everyone I’ve met through Travel Massive has been engaging, supportive, and excited to network.  It’s definitely an organization that I plan to continue to be apart of throughout my travels and beyond.
