Hi, I’m Ali! Join me as I travel the world on points, miles and PTO. Launched prior to departing for a yearlong adventure in Australia, Ali in Oz was originally created to chronicle my time abroad and has grown into a place to share all kinds of travel, both in the United States and around the world. I love experiencing the local culture when I travel (especially the food & wine!) and take advantage of points and miles to help me plan my bucket list trips.
A little about me: I grew up in Florida and currently live in Nashville with my husband and our dog, Mocha. I work in education policy and fully believe that travel is one of the best forms of education a person can experience. While traveling full-time would be amazing, it’s not my reality (and likely not yours either), so I’ve found intentional ways to earn and use credit card points to pay for travel.
Americans are notorious for feeling guilty about using their PTO and it’s past time that stops. According to an article from Forbes, “employees are receiving more PTO (up 9% since 2019) but are using less of it. In fact, in 2022, 55% of all PTO went unused. And women are leaving more on the table than men.” I hope to inspire you with my stories and encourage you to plan that next holiday. It’s good for your soul and you’ve earned it!
