About

Hey there!  Thank you for visiting Ali in Oz.  Launched prior to departing for a yearlong adventure in Australia, Ali in Oz was built for the purpose of keeping in touch with friends and family while abroad.  However, as the site has matured, it has blossomed into a place for me to share about all my travels for what I hope will be a resource for fellow travelers.  My travel style centers around truly experiencing the local culture and many of my posts offer guidance and inspiration to do just that. Travel blogs have been tremendously helpful in my destinations research and I hope to offer the same to my readers.

A little about me: I’m a 30-something American who made the decision of a lifetime to spend a year abroad working and traveling in Australia.  I grew up in South Florida with my two parents and four younger siblings, all who have been incredibly supportive of my traveler spirit.

During the summer of 2014, I spent two weeks traveling in Italy by myself.  This was my first experience abroad and I soaked up every minute of it — I was hooked!  Upon returning from Italy, I began searching for additional travel opportunities be it cheap, free, or even paid.  At first I was planning to teach English abroad somewhere in Europe but when a friend of mine introduced me to the Australian Work and Holiday Visa in December 2014, everything changed.  Follow along with me as I share my travel adventures!

Published Work

Sharing my travel experiences with an audience outside of Ali in Oz is a new adventure for me.  Below are my published pieces thus far and I’m looking forward to many more.

Would you like to collaborate with me?  I’m available to participate in media trips and reviews, as long as it aligns with Ali in Oz.  All partnerships will be disclosed and all opinions are my own.
